Information Collection Frequently Asked Questions
1. Why do you need to collect student information such as cell phones and emails?
In an organization as large as this, it is important to be able to disseminate information in as many ways as possible to reach everyone. If we only collect the parent's information, then it is incumbent on the parent to relay the information. This way both parent and student receive the same information. Part of our job as educators is to help prepare students for success beyond our classroom. This includes sending emails/texts to students so that they can begin to be responsible for themselves.
2. Why do you need our cell service provider?
This allows us to send emails to your cell phone as a text message. If you receive email on your cell phone and would prefer not to receive it as a text, leave that field blank.
3. Why do you need birthdates?
When we enter students in various contests, we must have their correct birthdate. While there is a spot for parent birthdays, we do not need this information, nor do we need Driver's Licenses.
4. Why do you ask for parent occupations/skills?
We cannot provide all the opportunities we would like to the students without parental involvement. By knowing where parents skill sets lie or sometimes even their place of employment, we are able to help direct parents to a role in our organization that will help them become an integral part of their child's education.
